3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS OF BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

INTRODUCTION
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in south-western Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back to over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants. More famously, this “impenetrable forest” also protects an estimated 320 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups, which can be tracked. This biologically diverse region also provides shelter to a further 120 mammals, including several primate species such as baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. There are around 350 species of birds hosted in this forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
The neighbouring towns of Buhoma and Nkuringo both have an impressive array of luxury lodges, rustic bandas and budget campsites, as well as restaurants, craft stalls and guiding services. Opportunities abound to discover the local Bakiga and Batwa Pygmy cultures through performances, workshops and village walks.

DAY 1: Depart Kampala from your Hotel at 6.00am and drive to the western part of Uganda with a stopover enroute for photography at the Equator crossings, shopping of Art, Crafts, Fruits and Lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara. Thereafter proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable N.P for check-in at the lodge. Relax at your own pace, have supper and overnight.

DAY 2: Have an early breakfast at 6:30am and move with parked lunch to the Park headquarters for a briefing from ranger guides before embarking on the Gorilla tracking. It may take 1 hour to 4 hours to locate the Gorillas of which you are allowed 1 hour to spend time with these gentle giants. Return to the parks office for handover of Tracking Certificates before proceeding to the Lodge for a shower and thereafter take on a community village walk of the Batwa and the Bakiga for a live encounter of their Cultures. Thereafter return to the Lodge for entertainment, Supper and overnight.

DAY 3: Have breakfast at 8.00am while enjoying the scenic beauty of the mist covered hillside and Forest cover surrounding the Lodge. Thereafter prepare to check-out from the lodge and drive back to Kampala with stopovers for Lunch, shopping of Art and Crafts before being dropped at your Hotel in Kampala.
